Matthias Altwicker Architect is a full-service architecture firm working on a wide range of project types in the metropolitan area and abroad. We are focused on providing more efficient and collaborative solutions through a structured process of client input and decision-making. An outgrowth of this approach has led to being a resource team member for the Regional Plan Association and facilitating workshops with mayors, stakeholders, and community members all over the metropolitan region and in Germany. The firm is also committed to research and conceptual design that supports the conventional practice.
Matthias Altwicker is a registered Architect in New York State, (031731), a LEED Accredited Professional, and a member of the AIA. He was a principal and co-founder of AB Architekten from 2003-13; the work of the firm won numerous awards and was published and exhibited internationally. See www.abarchitekten.com
He is an Associate Professor and Chair at the School of Architecture and Design of the New York Institute of Technology. He holds a Masters in Urban Design from the City College of New York, and a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Building Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Prior to starting his own practice, Matthias worked with Simon Ungers in New York, Georg Ritschl in Berlin, and OMA in Rotterdam.
